Federation Laptop Scheme
We want to provide the best teaching and learning for all pupils who attend Synergy Schools. This includes preparation for a rapidly changing world which involves more use of digital technology. We believe that by introducing a scheme which allows everyone to have access to a laptop device at home and school will enhance learning in many ways.
Research shows that using a laptop in school makes lessons and learning more varied and interactive, allowing access to a wider range of learning resources and supports the development of effective feedback.
The use of laptops in the classroom has really enhanced teaching as we incorporate the more traditional elements of learning with this new digital technology.
For those pupils who engage with the scheme, we expect them to have a fully charged laptop device in school every day so they can take advantage of all the opportunities e-learning strategies can offer. We do not allow our pupils to use a smartphone as an alternative to a laptop device in school. We ask for your support to ensure all pupils have access to appropriate technology in their lessons and at home.
Device Management
All devices on the laptop scheme are enrolled on our Microsoft 365 tenancy. This system will allow us to remotely administer device configuration settings – for example, WiFi network keys and configuration settings. We also deploy specialist safeguarding apps which monitor the use of the device and send us alerts if there are any concerns about how it is being used – even when this is happening at home.

An Overview of the Learning Foundation
The Learning Foundation is a registered education charity that is collecting monthly parental donations on our behalf to save us administration costs. They will collect your donation every month, apply for tax relief where applicable and then grant the money back to us to pay the bills. This video provides a quick overview of the scheme:
